Найкоштовнішим бізнес-проектом Павла Кампіана стало спорудження родинного гробівця при Латинській катедрі — головному католицькому храмі міста, який внесено до переліку перлин світової спадщини ЮНЕСКО. До втілення «мертвої» ідеї, реалізацію якої Кампіан розпочав 1585 року, щойно вмостившись у кріслі райця, він підійшов з комерційним розрахунком. При каплиці, зручно розташованій у самому центрі Львова, родина облаштувала ломбард, де зберігалися гроші та коштовності позичальників.   (more…)

The Lviv School of Mathematics was a group of mathematicians who worked between the World Wars in Lwow, Poland (now Lviv, Ukraine). They often met at the famous Scottish Café to discuss mathematical problems, and published in the journal Studia Mathematica, founded in 1929. (more…)

Zygmunt Gorazdowski After finishing high school in Przemysl he enrolled in the faculty of law in Lviv. At the end of his second year of law studies he decided to enter the Latin Catholic Seminary in Lviv. Fr Zygmunt Gorazdowski died in Lviv on 1 January 1920. Those who knew him called him the “Father of the poor and priest of the homeless”. He was beatified on 26 June 2001 by Pope John Paul II. (more…)

В городе, где я родился и вырос, часть улиц носила названия никак с ним не связанные. Ни исторически, ни географически, ни профессионально. Что-то нужно было сменить, как не соответствующее духу эпохи. Кого-то следовало возвеличить и увековечить. Так наш дом стоял на углу улиц Фрунзе и Марата. Раньше, до революции на улице Марата жили резники. И она называлась Резницкой.

Gunhard Mattes – Founder and Head Conductor of the INSO Lemberg.

Gunhard Mattes, born in Zurich and now at home Bremgarten, founded his own chamber orchestra at the age of fifteen. Before dedicating himself to his conducting career, Mattes studied oboe in Zurich under Andrй Raoult and in Freiburg in the Breisgau under Heinz Holliger. (more…)
