Transport Ministry to launch speed trains by Euro-2012
The Transportation and Communication Ministry means to launch speed trains from Kyiv to Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Lviv by Euro-2012.
As a representative of the Transportation Ministry Volodymyr Korniyenko said, by Euro-2012 trains making speed of 200 km per hour will be launched. According to him, the ministry has developed the program of speed traffic introduction on railway during 2008-2015, presently it undergoes arrangement with other ministries and agencies. Korniyenko hopes in 2008 the program will be adopted and its implementation will start. According to the project, the general cost of state program realization is UAH 37.551 billion, including UAH 19.6 bn from the budget and almost UAH 18 billion of credits. The travel time is supposed to be reduced from 8-12 hours to 3-5 hours.
